The Department of Social Development is seeking individuals for existing and future casual opportunities in various positions and locations throughout the province. The Department is responsible for providing quality programs and services to the people of New Brunswick who need help the most. We strive to provide essential programs and services that enhance the well-being of New Brunswick's children, families, seniors and persons with disabilities.
Many of the services of the Department are delivered through partnerships with other government departments and community-based service providers. Social Development protects children, youth and adults at risk; is responsible for youth in temporary or permanent care of the province; works directly with clients to ensure services meet individual needs; provides sustainable, integrated income support programs and incentives for moving towards self-reliance; ensures linkages with other departments to provide services and programs for clients; provides services to seniors; and provides social housing.

Essential Qualifications: When hiring casuals, the Department must ensure that the person's qualifications are consistent with the classification specifications, occupational standards and language requirements.
Some positions require written and spoken competence in French and English. Others will require written and spoken competence in English or in French only. Please state your language capability.
Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration. Please ensure that preferred language for assessment is identified on your resume.
Time Limits: A casual shall not be employed in any one department for more than 260 paid days in a 24-month period.
As per the Civil Service Act, veterans who demonstrate they are among the most qualified, shall be given preference at the time of appointment. We promote a scent-reduced environment.
