Fundy Trail Provincial Park is one of New Brunswick's crown jewels. Spanning 2,559 hectares along the southern coast, the park features a stunning 30 km parkway with breathtaking views of the world-renowned Bay of Fundy. Open seasonally from May to November, it offers visitors an unforgettable chance to connect with nature and history.
Join the New Brunswick Parks team as an Operations Worker I and help maintain one of the most beautiful natural spaces in the province! We provide meaningful work that supports outdoor recreation and conservation efforts, and we work collaboratively with stakeholders to grow the park sector and encourage New Brunswickers and visitors to explore our natural treasures.
What you will do:
Reporting to the Park Maintenance Supervisor II, the Operation Worker I at Fundy Trail Provincial Park is a skilled and experienced team member, responsible for maintaining park infrastructure, equipment, and operations at a high standard. This role requires leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to ensure that park operations run safely, efficiently, and effectively, including mentoring and supporting less experienced staff.
The duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Inspecting, operating, and maintaining park equipment, including tractors, trailers and mowers
- Conducting pre-use inspections, safety checks, and routine maintenance on all equipment to ensure operational readiness and compliance with safety standards
- Performing groundskeeping and facility maintenance tasks, including tree pruning, brush clearing, trail upkeep, painting, and minor repairs
- Keeping all work areas clean, organized, and free from clutter to promote safety and efficiency
- Maintaining accurate records of equipment use, maintenance logs and inspections
- Participating in health and safety initiatives, including committee work, reporting hazards, and implementing corrective actions
- Performing other tasks, as required
Who you are:
You are an experienced, dependable, and skilled operator with a strong work ethic and a commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency. You take ownership of responsibilities, lead by example, and support team members to ensure that all park operations run smoothly. You are adaptable, proactive, and approach each task with integrity and professionalism.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Required Competencies:
- Completion of grade ten (10)
- A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience
- Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick
- Chainsaw Operator Training Certification, or willingness to obtain training within 6-months of employment
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Nice to have:
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Training
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification

Wage:
$26.87 per hour

- Please note that this position requires variable and extended hours - shifts may include evenings, weekends and holidays, and shifts may vary in accordance with operational requirements
