Internship Placement for the Fall 2026 Term

Hours per week: 10-20 (flexible)
Placement Duration: September- December 2026
Department: Department of Health - Policy and Legislation Branch
Placement Description: The Policy Advisor Student will support the Policy and Legislation Branch in advancing sound public policy and legislative initiatives within the Department of Health.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting responses to Right to Information requests, including reviewing and redacting materials in accordance with legislation.
- Conducting jurisdictional scans and research across Canadian provinces and territories to inform policy development.
- Preparing briefing materials and analysis to support senior management and Executive Council decision-making.
- Assisting with related policy, legislative, and administrative tasks.
This placement offers meaningful, hands-on experience in public policy and legislative analysis within a provincial government setting. Students will gain exposure to policy development, legislative processes, and executive-level communications, while receiving mentorship and regular one-on-one supervision to support their learning and professional growth.
Need to have:
- Language requirement: English
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary program in public administration, public policy, law, health sciences, social sciences, or a related field
- Strong analytical thinking and sound judgment
- Excellent written communication skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of public sector processes or legislative frameworks
- Understanding of privacy legislation (e.g., Right to Information and Protection of Privacy principles)
- Experience conducting research or preparing briefing materials
- Interest in health policy or public administration
