FGNB 333 - Junior Data Strategist
Internship Placement for Fall 2026 Term

Placement Description: As members of the Health Analytics team, the successful candidate will report to the Manager of Data Management, and will be responsible for activities associated with the identification and delivery of solutions to meet the business needs of client departments. Their main project will be to assist with the Chronic Disease Registry project, though they may also support other data products and Branch initiatives.
Through collaboration with technical and business colleagues, the selected candidate will analyze business needs, design and/or procure solutions, and identify outcomes that will address business requirements. The role will also involve the design, gathering of requirements, and compliance for data used by Health Analytics, as well as the information used for decision making and predictive analytics. This will also require the application of GNB Solutions Delivery Framework.
The Junior Data Strategist will also work with solutions specialists, programmers, Database Administrators, and business stakeholders regarding coding, testing, and implementing functionality. Similarly, they will also maintain collaborative relationships with Business Experience Support Team members, Project Managers, Enterprise Architecture, other SNB teams, client departments, and business owners.
The selected student may also assist in the development or sourcing of training and resources about effective utilization of data within the Department of Health data warehouse (Data Sharing Platform "DSP"), and may also perform other related duties as required.
Need to have:
- Language requirement: English
- Programming in SQL, Python, R (asset), and experience with SQL data products
Nice to have:
- Experience in designing, implementing, managing and querying large databases. Ideally, this would include experience with relational, graphical and key value database management systems;
- Knowledge and experience regarding database connectivity including ETL, ELT, XML, JSON. Optional, this would include experience with HL7 2, and HL7 FHIR;
- Knowledge and experience in cleaning and harmonizing data from source systems in a multilingual environment;
- Demonstrates skills with scripts and other programming languages (Java virtual machine), in particular SAS, Python or, R and Java;
- Experience in setting up and maintaining interactive user interfaces to facilitate access to data and analysis;
Knowledge of data strategy supporting the direction of predictive analytics, utilization of the cloud, Data Science lifecycle, integration with Power BI and P1.
