The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the Financial Services Branch as a Financial Analyst, in Fredericton.

We are looking for an energetic team player who takes initiative, displays problem-solving and decision making abilities, who has excellent organizational skills and who is able to maintain a positive, professional attitude in an evolving work environment.

As a Financial Analyst you will:

  • Review, prepare and evaluate program budgets;
  • Prepare and report on various types of analysis such as comparison of budget and actual, trend analysis, and claims-based spending;
  • Provide monthly and quarterly reports for the senior management team;
  • Provide advice on the financial impact of decisions;
  • Participate in meetings where complex costing calculations are required;
  • Work on ad-hoc projects as required;
  • Assist in the preparation of public accounts and annual reports;
  • Prepare and process invoices and budget amendments as required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Five (5) years of related work experience to include experience with financial information systems.
  • A Professional Accounting Designation (CPA). 
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

In the event that this competition poses difficulties in recruiting a qualified candidate, a covering off appointment at a lower level may be made. In that case, candidates with less than the required related years of experience may also be considered.

Necessary Special Requirement: 

  • Candidates must have a Canadian CPA or equivalent CPA designation accepted by the New Brunswick CPA Chapter. 

A candidate who meets the essential qualifications, except for the CPA designation, may be considered if they demonstrate on their application that they are working towards their CPA designation.

Asset Qualifications:  Preference may be given to candidates that possess one or more of the following asset qualifications:

  • Experience with Oracle Financials
  • Knowledge of Regional Health Authority budgeting and accounting
  • Experience with federal funding agreements

Candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications, in addition to the essential qualifications, in order to be given further consideration.

Salary:  $67,600 to $94,406 per annum (Pay Band 5)
